Pennsylvania Unemployment Compensation Board: Washington Appeal

This appeal involves a claim for unemployment benefits by Michael Washington, a former FedEx Ground driver.  Washington appealed the Pennsylvania Unemployment Compensation Service Center ruling from February 2007 that he was a contractor and not eligible for benefits. 

The Unemployment Compensation Review Board found, "In summary, the uncontested testimony and evidence states that the employer, FedEx, had control and direction over the claimant's performance and services as a driver."  The Board reversed the previous ruling in May 2007 and found Washington to be a statutory employee.
